Why aren't there more pictures of Holden?

probably because she really doesn't like having her picture made!

Colby and his "snow pal" project

Thanks to Freebirds and Stephen McGee, Colby's "snow pal" project turned out really cute! In case I haven't filled you in, Colby had a family project that consisted of creating a "snow pal". It was supposed to be a snow man but it had to be disguised as something other than a snowman (thank goodness we didn't have projects like this when I was a kid!). So, instantly, Colby knew that he wanted Stephen McGee as his snowpal. The only supplies that the school sent home was a 1/2 sheet of white poster board. So, Colby and I started with that - we covered it as the "field" and then that's when we had the idea of making the snow pals out of tin foil. I was adamant about not going to the store and buying anything for this project so instead, Colby used up all the good aluminum foil! Oh well. He was super proud of his project and according to Colby, his class voted his snow pal project the best one in the class!

McBerty Look-alike Meter

It's nice for them to say that he looks 6% more like me, but we all know the truth! As my grandmother says, "Mike marked his children well!"...

Alamo Bowl, San Antonio, December 29, 2007

We left College Station for San Antonio on Friday, December 28th with my parents and niece, Collyn, following us. We got to San Antonio just in time for dinner on the Riverwalk. After dinner, mom and dad headed back to the hotel while the rest of us took a riverboat ride. The lights in all the trees helped add to the festive sights and sounds around us.
On Saturday, we all headed to the Alamo where Colby enjoyed learning all about the canons and guns that the fighters used. His reading is coming along really well and he could read lots of the information that was posted throughout the Alamo. After a late lunch, it was time to head to the Alamodome to watch the Aggies take on Penn State. After a wonderful first quarter of the Aggies leading 14-0, the worst was yet to come. The Aggies just couldn't pull out a win and lost 24-17. We've been to the last 8 of 10 bowl games and so far have only seen one win - we keep thinking that will change. Maybe next year!
