Bulldog Soccer - Game 1

Here are a couple of pics of Colby showing off his soccer skills...

Texas A&M vs. Army

Yesterday's football game was quite hectic to say the least. The kids and I were dressed and on campus by 10am so that we could watch March In. For reasons unknown, Holden loves watching the Corp march in before each home game. Yesterday the Army cadets joined the A&M cadets during march in - it truly made you get a lump in your throat to watch these young men and women march by so proudly. They were trying to keep a serious face but you could see the smiles creep onto their face as everyone around gave them standing ovations. Made you proud to be an Aggie and proud to be an American. After March In the kids made the rounds at the Kids Zone. You can see from the picture below that Colby caught some serious air as he was coming down the slide - I'm sure this is an accident waiting to happen! Colby also tried out the rock climbing wall. He thought it was going to be a lot easier than it was!

We got to our seats right before all the festivities kicked off. The flyover was performed by four Apache helicopters and then four Black Knight parachuters landed perfectly onto the 50 yard line of Kyle Field - it was awesome. Then, right before Kick Off, Colby and I had to leave the game and head to his first soccer game of the season. Who plans a soccer game in College Station during a football game?! The Bulldogs (Colby's team) lost 5-2 but it was amazing seeing the progress that Colby has made since the Spring. He went to two soccer camps over the summer and he's really starting to get some "skills"! This year he moved up a league and the field is twice as big as it was last year. The kids were worn out when the game was over!

But, our day wasn't over yet! We rushed back to Kyle Field to catch the last 8+ minutes of the football game! The Aggies pulled out a W for their first home game win of the season - let's hope it won't be the last!

This picture was taken by Holden - not the best but she at least got both of us in the picture!
Holden decided to hang with Pop Pop before the game started!

Holden's Jumbotron Premier

Holden made her Jumbotron premiere this past weekend when the Aggies played Miami. Colby and Connor had just been on but I wasn't quick enough grabbing my camera to snap their picture. Holden was on right after them - I'm so bummed about the quality of the picture but here it is, none the less!

Kids fall asleep in the funniest places!

We had a few families over to watch the Aggies play New Mexico a few weeks ago and there where kids everywhere! I had been looking for Holden (you know, it was just a bit too quite!) and she had crawled up on our bed and fell asleep! I'm not sure how long she would have stayed like that - we eventually moved her to laying down - after I was through taking pictures! She must have been exhausted!

update on Hurrican Ike

Obviously the clouds have gotten thicker in the past 6 hours but that's pretty much it. It is eerily still here right now - the leaves on the trees are barely moving.

Colby and I headed out to town earlier this morning and, boy, do I hope that we have everything we need so that we don't have to go back! The traffic on Highway 6 was very, very heavy and the lines at the grocery store were 5-6 people deep.

Still looks like we are on the "good" side of the storm but considering this storm is 900 miles wide, it doesn't look like any of it can be called good.

We'll keep you posted!

Hurricane Ike?!

Are we sure we are having a hurricane?! I took these pictures from the middle of our street around 8:30am on Friday morning (this morning). I just checked the news and we are under a Tropical Storm Wind Warning which means we could see sustained winds of 40mph starting tonight. Mike actually laughed at me when I asked him if we should bring in the patio furniture. Guess he's not convinved we are going to get any weather! We are also under a Flash Flood Watch through Sunday.

Luckily we are on the "good" side of the storm and our local meteorologist said we could expect tropical storm force winds beginning late Friday through early Saturday. When I checked the weather channel, it listed us as mostly cloudly till around 3pm this afternoon with isolated thunderstorms and wind starting about 3pm. They show squalls starting around 6am on Saturday.

They have cancelled all of the schools so me and the kiddos are going to head outside and try to enjoy this nice day off! We'll keep you posted!
