visiting the Womack's

This past weekend, we went to Jasper to see our buddies, Wade, Nicole, Colton, and Carson. It's been a year since they left College Station and not a day goes by that I don't miss them terribly! As of Friday, they had the keys to a new lake house that they went in with 4 other families to get. It's great and we hope to go back really soon!

As we were driving in to town late Friday night, Mike and Colby got to laughing because they said Jasper looked like Radiator Springs! In fact, after I thought about it, it did! When we got to the Womack's the kids instantly started playing just like old times and we all stayed up till after midnight!

Saturday morning Mike and Wade went to play golf while Nicole and I got the kids and all our stuff ready to head out to Lake Sam Rayburn. You should have seen the two of us and all four kids at Wal-Mart buying snacks! What an adventure.

We finally got out to the lake later that afternoon and the kids got to swim and play and we even went back to Colby's favorite spot from last year - Rattlesnake Beach! We stayed till the sun went down and finally headed home - everyone was exhausted!
Sunday morning Wade and Mike took Colton and Colby to play 9 holes of golf and then we met back out at the lake house. We tried to swim again but a rainstorm moved through so we decided to head back home. Saying goodbye is always tough but football season is just around the corner and I already can't wait to see them again!

Fishing at The Hill

Last Sunday, we went fishing behind my parents house. I can honestly say that I've turned into somewhat of a city girl since I sat on the back of the truck for the first few minutes just to make sure there where no critters or crawly things by the shore. Once I was convinced, I made the trek through the weeds and joined up with my dad, Colby, Mike, Holden and my mom. We were fishing for anything that would bite. We caught a few catfish that were a few inches long and my dad caught a couple of big catfish but they both broke the line before he could get them reeled in. A really big catfish swam around the shore right beside Mike and just kind of teased him. So, instead of trying to catch him with his fishing pole, Mike told me to go grab a rake! Granted, had Mike actually caught the fish with the rake, I would be telling you how great an outdoorsman he was but just seeing him trying to catch that fish with a rake was too much! The only thing he managed to get out of the pond were a few minnows! But, nevertheless, we had a great time!

Notice how Holden's dress is tucked up in the back? It kept getting dirty when she bent down so we had to make it where she could squat down without getting her dressed messed up - apparently, she's a city girl too!

Colby and my mom try to catch minnows with cups!

Here's Mike fishing with the rake! He was so intense about this!!!

The Princess of Quite A Lot!

With Colby at the Hill, Holden adjusted to being an "only child" for a few days. She enjoyed doing things that are not normally allowed - like eating McDonald's in mom and dad's bed while watching a movie! She's asked if she could do this again and we've had to convince her that this was just a special day!

Holden's special day!

Since Colby is at my parents for two weeks, Holden is getting some extra special quality time with mom and dad! Since she has never gone anywhere fun with just us and her (i.e., without Colby!) we thought it would be fun for her to have a special day!
So, on Saturday morning, we got up early and headed out for the Waco Zoo!
The Waco Zoo is a great zoo if you have little ones. It doesn't have a lot of animals so it is very "doable" when you have small kiddos. But, since the last time we were there - it seems to have doubled in size with the addition of a Brazos Valley section.
Holden walked a lot but being on daddy's shoulders was her preferred mode of transportation!
We stopped to have lunch at the Tree Top Cafe and posed for a couple of pictures!
Daddy gets some extra special lovin' a day before Father's Day! Holden only cried for Colby one time while we were there - poor thing, she's just not used to getting that much un-divided attention! We had so much fun!

Colby's Aggie Soccer Camp

The week after school let out, Colby went to the A&M Soccer Camp. It was 4 days for 2.5 hours a day. He LOVED it! I truly think he could have gone all summer if it was offered. I love this picture - he looks so big and grown up!

Holden's swimming lessons!

For the past two weeks, Holden has been attending swimming lessons for 25 minutes each session. It was a bit touch and go the first few sessions as to whether or not she would even get in the water but she finally realized that swimming lessons was not punishment! Above she is showing off her "mingo" swimsuit!
She actually looks like she is paying attention to her teacher but I can assure you she was not! Every time he would ask her to do something, she would shake her head and tell him no! Our little girl is so funny!
Just hanging out on the steps of the pool!
Blowing some bubbles!
Holden quickly realized that the toys at the pool weren't good enough and we had to take our own! This is her rocket that she would normally play with in the bathtub! I'm not sure how much she is learning but we do know one thing - it's made hair washing lots, lots easier - and that was worth the fee for the lessons! :)

Colby graduates from Kindergarten!

Friday morning, May 30th, Colby graduated from Kindergarten at Pebble Creek Elementary. He had a wonderful year and we are all anxious and excited about him starting 1st grade in the fall. Wow - this year went by really fast!

My oldest niece, Christian, graduates from high school

I feel REALLY old but here is a picture of Christian and me before she graduated from Henderson High School this past Thursday night. I was three days shy of turning 16 when she was born! Since I was still in high school, she was with me all the time! It's hard to believe that she's 18 and college bound!
Christian will be attending Baylor University in the fall. Yes, we are sad that she's not coming to A&M but glad that she'll only be 90 miles away! When we told Colby that she was going to Baylor, he asked if we could still talk to her! Poor thing is brain washed and thinks that anyone that doesn't go to A&M is the enemy!
This is my sister, Paige, Christian, me and Collyn - she'll be a freshman at Henderson next year!

Colby learns to blow a bubble gum bubble!

Well, Colby has reached another first - this is one of his first bubble gum bubbles! I can't tell you how long he has been trying to do this! This truly is a great accomplishment! This along with learning to whistle have been two of his highlights this spring! Oh, the little things!!!

High School Musical On Ice

On Saturday, May 24th, my mom came to town with my sister-in-law, Lynn, and my three nieces, Kylie, Loren & Sydney. They along with me, Colby and Holden went to Reed Arena to see High School Musical On Ice. Thanks to our friend, Amy, we were able to get front row tickets and I can honestly say that the kids were mesmerized! The show was fantastic and the music was super! The kids really needed to see it a second time to fully enjoy it - I think they were over whelmed the first time. But, we had so much fun!

Holden and her "mingo" in matching dresses

Recently my mom bought Holden a dress that had a matching dress for a baby doll. Well, if you know Holden, you know that she's not that crazy about baby dolls. So, we had to dress her "mingo" instead!

2008 Spring Green Mambas

Coach Bill, Luke, Connor, Dillon, Colby, Caden, Mike
Catherine & Carly

The 2008 spring season came to a bittersweet end in May. This was the last season that our team would play together. Starting in the fall, the boys will play together and the girls will form their own teams. Catherine and Carly could really hang with the boys and we are going to miss having them on our team!

The season wouldn't be complete without a silly picture!
